You get a moving crew that shows up on time with the right equipment. Not day laborers hired off the street – trained professionals who know how to protect your furniture, navigate tight stairwells, and handle the unexpected without charging you extra for it.
Your quote is your quote. No surprise fees when the truck is loaded. No hostage situations where your belongings sit in a warehouse until you pay triple what you were told.
You also get someone who answers the phone. Before, during, and after your move. Because the worst part of moving isn’t the heavy lifting – it’s the silence when something goes wrong and nobody responds.
We’ve been doing this in Suffolk County for over 15 years. That means we know which routes to avoid during rush hour, how to deal with building management at the newer complexes off Montauk Highway, and what permits you need before we show up. It’s the kind of local knowledge that saves you time and stress on moving day.
All Terrain Moving is a family-owned business that’s been serving Center Moriches and the surrounding Suffolk County area for more than 15 years. We’re not a franchise. We’re not a lead generation service that farms your move out to whoever bids lowest.
Scott manages our operations, and he’s the one who’ll fit you into the schedule when you need to move fast. Our crews are trained, background-checked, and paid well enough that they don’t treat your belongings like they’re in a hurry to get to the next job.
We handle residential moves, commercial relocations, and junk removal across Long Island. Center Moriches has changed a lot over the years – more families moving out from NYC, more downsizing from older residents, more turnover in the rental market. We’ve moved through all of it, and we understand what local customers are dealing with when they call.
First, you call or contact us for a quote. We’ll ask about the size of your place, what you’re moving, any specialty items like pianos or antiques, and where you’re going. If it’s a bigger move, we can come out and give you an in-person estimate. Either way, you get a clear number upfront – not a range that means nothing.
On moving day, our crew shows up on time with the truck and equipment. We do a walkthrough with you to confirm what’s going and what’s staying. Then we get to work – wrapping furniture, loading carefully, and keeping you updated if anything changes.
Once we’re loaded, we head to your new place. We unload, place everything where you want it, and do a final check to make sure nothing was missed or damaged. You’re not signing off on anything until you’re satisfied.
If you need packing help beforehand or junk removal afterward, we handle that too. A lot of Center Moriches customers are downsizing or clearing out before a sale – we’ll haul away what you don’t want and move what you’re keeping. One company, one bill, less coordination on your end.
Ready to get started?
We’re a full-service moving company, which means you can hire us for the whole job or just the parts you need help with. Some customers pack everything themselves and just need the truck and muscle. Others want us to handle it all – packing, loading, transport, unloading, and junk removal for whatever doesn’t make the cut.
Center Moriches sits right in the middle of a lot of moving activity. You’ve got families relocating from NYC looking for more space and better schools. You’ve got older residents moving into smaller homes or assisted living. You’ve got renters turning over in the complexes near Senix Creek. All of those moves look different, and we’ve done all of them.
If you’re moving locally – say, from Center Moriches to Mastic Beach or over to Shirley – we know the area. We know the narrow streets in the older neighborhoods, the loading dock requirements at the bigger buildings, and the parking restrictions you need to plan around. That kind of local knowledge keeps your move on schedule.
For long-distance moves, we’re licensed and insured to handle relocations outside Suffolk County. And if you’ve got specialty items – pool tables, safes, antiques, pianos – we’ve got the equipment and experience to move them without damage. It’s not something you want to trust to a crew that’s winging it.
Local moves in Center Moriches typically run between $400 and $2,000 depending on the size of your home, how much you’re moving, and whether you need packing services. A studio or one-bedroom apartment usually falls on the lower end. A three-bedroom house with a garage full of stuff will cost more.
We charge based on the time it takes and the crew size you need. Hourly rates for local moves generally range from $100 to $200 per hour for a two-person crew with a truck. Larger moves need more people and bigger trucks, which increases the rate.
Long-distance moves are priced differently – usually by weight and distance. If you’re moving out of state, we’ll give you a binding estimate after assessing what you’re taking. The key is getting an accurate count upfront so there are no surprises later. We don’t play games with lowball quotes that triple once your stuff is loaded.
You should be there at the start and at the end, but you don’t need to hover the whole time. At the beginning, we’ll do a walkthrough so you can point out what’s going, what’s staying, and any items that need special care. That’s also when you can ask questions or flag concerns.
During the loading and transport, you can leave if you need to. A lot of customers use that time to clean the old place, handle paperwork, or get the new place ready. Just make sure we can reach you by phone in case something comes up.
You’ll want to be at the destination for the unload. That’s when you direct where furniture goes, do a final walkthrough to confirm everything arrived, and check for any damage. Once that’s done and you’re satisfied, we’re finished. If you absolutely can’t be there, you can designate someone else to handle it – just let us know ahead of time.
If you’re packing yourself, have everything boxed and ready before we arrive. Label boxes by room and mark anything fragile. The more organized you are, the faster the load goes – and the less you pay if you’re being charged hourly.
Clear pathways in both locations. Move cars out of the driveway, prop doors open, and make sure there’s room for the truck to park close. If you’re in a building with an elevator or loading dock, reserve it ahead of time and let us know about any access restrictions.
Disconnect appliances if we’re moving them. Washers, dryers, and refrigerators need to be unhooked and ready to go. If you’re not sure how, we can handle it – just ask when you book. Same goes for disassembling furniture like bed frames or large desks. We can do it, but it adds time.
If you’ve got valuables, important documents, or items you don’t want on the truck, set those aside and transport them yourself. We’re insured, but some things are irreplaceable – and you’ll have more peace of mind keeping them with you.
Yes. We’re fully licensed and insured to operate in Suffolk County and across New York State. That means if something gets damaged during your move, you’re covered – not stuck arguing with an unlicensed crew that disappears after the job.
Our insurance covers your belongings during transport. We also carry liability coverage in case of property damage at either location. Before we start, we can walk you through what’s covered and what your options are if you want additional protection for high-value items.
Licensing matters more than most people realize. A lot of moving scams involve companies that aren’t properly licensed or insured. They quote you low, do the job poorly, and vanish when something goes wrong. We’ve been doing this for over 15 years – our reputation and credentials are easy to verify, and we’re not going anywhere.
If you want proof of insurance or licensing before you book, just ask. We’ll send it over. You should never hire a moving company that won’t provide that information upfront.
Yes. We handle pianos, pool tables, antiques, safes, and other items that require special equipment or extra care. These aren’t things you can just toss on a dolly – they need the right tools, the right crew, and experience doing it without causing damage.
For pianos, we use padded covers, straps, and piano boards designed to distribute weight safely. Upright pianos are easier than grands, but we’ve moved both plenty of times. If there are stairs involved, we plan for that ahead of time – it affects crew size and equipment.
Antiques and fragile items get wrapped individually and packed with extra padding. We don’t just throw a blanket over them and hope for the best. If you’ve got something particularly valuable or irreplaceable, let us know when you book so we can take the right precautions.
Pool tables have to be disassembled, moved in pieces, and reassembled at the new location. Same with some large furniture. We’ve done it enough times that it’s routine for us – but it does add time to the job, so mention it upfront when you’re getting a quote.
Sometimes. It depends on our schedule and the size of the job. If you need to move fast – maybe your lease fell through, a closing got moved up, or you’re dealing with an emergency – call us and we’ll see what we can do.
Scott manages our scheduling, and he’s been known to fit people in last-minute when we have availability. Smaller moves are easier to accommodate on short notice than full-house relocations. If we can’t do same-day, we’ll get you on the calendar as soon as possible.
That said, booking ahead is always better. Moving companies in Suffolk County stay busy, especially during peak season from May through September. If you know your move date, locking it in early means you get the day and time you want – not whatever’s left over.
For junk removal, same-day service is more common. If you just need a truckload of stuff hauled away and we’re in the area, we can usually make it happen. Give us a call and we’ll let you know what’s realistic based on where we are that day.
